Writing from a Mother’s Heart, Carrying Zayla’s Light
Shaliza Manmohan is a mother, writer, and doctor who never expected to become the author of a children’s book.. until grief found her in the most unimaginable way.
Her daughter, Zayla, was a radiant three-year-old who somehow understood more than words could explain. She was pure joy, full of curiosity, laughter, and love. She adored reading books, could spend hours lost in pretend play, and was happiest barefoot under the open sky. When she passed away unexpectedly, her absence left a silence no words could fill, so Shaliza began to write, not to fix the pain, but to give it somewhere soft to land.
Zayla’s Starlight Home began as a promise that her little girl would never be forgotten, and that other children navigating loss would have a gentle, hopeful place to turn. Through simple words and heart-felt storytelling, the book offers comfort to families walking through grief, and reminds both children and grown-ups that love is never truly lost.. it just finds a new way to shine.
Shaliza now writes to honor Zayla’s legacy of wonder, warmth, and a love that continues to bloom beyond goodbye.
“This book is dedicated to my daughter, Zayla, whose spirit shone brighter than the most radiant star in our galaxy. She taught me more in three years than a lifetime could reveal. May this book serve as a soothing starlight for those who have lost someone dear, offering a gentle explanation that love, like the stars above, never truly disappears.”
